Volga Federal District is an administrative region of Russia appeared by the decree of Russian President in May 13, 2000.

The territory of the region is about 6% of total Russian territory. The population of the district is about 20,8% of total population of Russia. The administrative center of Volga Federal District is Nizhny Novgorod city.

Volga Federal District has the population of 29,772,000 (2012), land area - 1,036,975 sq. km.
