Let’s visit the vast expanses of Zabaikalsky region – the territory of about 432,000 sq. km., part of Siberian Federal District. These wonderful photos were taken near Chernyshevsk – a small urban village with a population of 13 thousand people located 389 km north-east of Chita.

Abandoned coastal battery on the Kola Peninsula

In Soviet times, a very significant part of the budget was spent on various military purposes, including the construction of numerous defensive structures all over the country.

Alien landscapes of Tolbachik volcanic plateau

Tolbachik is a volcanic complex located in the east of Kamchatka. It is a stunningly beautiful place – a lifeless valley covered with volcanic ash with many cracks and cones shrouded in clouds of acid gases.

Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan and a major port on the left bank of the Volga River, is located 820 kilometers east of Moscow.
This city with a population of about 1.2 million people is one of the largest economic, scientific, educational, cultural and sports centers in Russia. In 2005, Kazan celebrated its millennium.

Toropets – one of the oldest towns in Russia

Toropets is a small town with a population of about 12 thousand people located in Tver region, 400 km to the west of Moscow. It is one of the oldest towns in the country founded in 1074.

Open-air museum “Auto – USSR” in Chernousovo

This unique private museum is located in Tula region, in the village of Chernousovo. If you drive on Simferopol highway, it is about 300 km from Moscow.
The museum was founded by Mikhail Krasinets, a former auto mechanic of the USSR national team, in 1994-1995. The collection includes more than 200 cars exhibited in the open air. That’s why most of them, unfortunately, are in a fairly poor condition.

Lake Teletskoye – the largest lake in the Altay Mountains

Lake Teletskoye is located in the south of Western Siberia (Altai Republic). It is the fifth deepest lake in Russia (maximum depth – 325 meters).
This lake is one of the most popular tourist destination in Altai Republic: hiking, water, bike, air and road trips. In addition, many tourists come to the lake for fishing. The photo was taken by Alexey Kachurin.
