Tiksi is an urban village with a population of about 4,500 people and one of the main ports in Russian Arctic. It is the northernmost settlement on the territory of Yakutia and the fourth northernmost settlement of the country.

Baikal is a lake of tectonic origin located in the southern part of Eastern Siberia, the deepest lake in the world (1,642 meters) and the largest natural reservoir of fresh water (19%).

It is situated in the center of Asia, on the border of the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia. The lake stretches from the southwest to the northeast for 620 km in the form of a giant crescent. The width of the lake is in the range of 24 to 79 km.

Voskresenskoye is a small village with a population of about 6,000 people located 130 km north-east of Nizhny Novgorod, on the banks of the Vetluga River. Voskresenskoye is known since the 16th century as a trading village. Local residents were busy in agriculture and timber industry.

Let’s take a look at the estate built by Sergey Nikanorovich Belyaev, one of the main local timber merchants, in 1904-1905. Prirazlomnoye oil field, located about 60 km from the coast on the shelf of the Pechora Sea, was opened in 1989. The sea depth in the area of the field is 19-20 meters.
