Solovetsky Islands or simply Solovki is an archipelago located in the White Sea (Arkhangelsk oblast), consisting of six major islands and more than 100 small islands.

The beauty of the ice of Lake Baikal

Baikal is a lake of tectonic origin located in the southern part of Eastern Siberia, the deepest lake in the world (1,642 meters) and the largest natural reservoir of fresh water (19%).
It is situated in the center of Asia, on the border of the Irkutsk region and the Republic of Buryatia. The lake stretches from the southwest to the northeast for 620 km in the form of a giant crescent. The width of the lake is in the range of 24 to 79 km.

New Jerusalem Monastery in Istra

Voskresensky New Jerusalem Monastery is a historic monastery located in the town of Istra in the Moscow region.
The monastery was founded by Patriarch Nikon in 1656. The plan was to recreate the holy places of Palestine, it was the embodiment of the idea of Moscow as the “Third Rome” located in Russia.

Manpupuner rock formations – a natural wonder of Russia

Manpupuner rock formations or Pillars of weathering are a geological monument located in the Komi Republic, on the territory of the Pechora-Ilych nature reserve, on the mountain Man-Pupu-ner (“a small mountain of idols” on the Mansi language).
The height of the pillars varies from 30 to 42 meters. There are numerous legends associated with this unique place, it was the object of the Mansi cult.

Columnar Landscape of Cape Stolbchaty on Kunashir Island

Cape Stolbchaty is located in the east of Kunashir Island in the Sakhalin region. It consists of layers of basaltic lava of Mendeleev volcano with a well defined columnar jointing in the form of 5- and 6-sided columns.

The amazing beauty of Lake Akkem

Akkem is a lake situated in Altai mountains, at the foot of the northern slope of Mount Belukha, in the territory of Ust-Koksinsky district of the Altai Republic. Ak-kem means “white water” in the Altai language.
The lake, elongated from north to south, is fed by melt water of Akkem glacier. The length of the lake is 1,350 meters, the width – 610 m., the average depth – 7.8 m. The Museum-Reserve Peterhof is a monument of world architecture and palace-park art located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland in the town of Peterhof in Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg.
