Oil production on the shelf in the Russian Arctic

Prirazlomnoye oil field, located about 60 km from the coast on the shelf of the Pechora Sea, was opened in 1989. The sea depth in the area of the field is 19-20 meters.
Today, thanks to technological advances, oil production is conducted here with the help of the world’s first stationary Arctic oil platform called “Prirazlomnaya”, 320 km north-east of Naryan-Mar (the Nenets Autonomous District). Photos by: Alexander Cheban.

The sky in shades of emerald in northern Russia

One of the most amazing natural phenomenon that you can see in the north is of course the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).

Perm is a city with a population of more than 1 million people located in the east of the European part of Russia, in the Urals, the administrative center of Perm Krai.

Sergey Mikhaylovich Prokudin-Gorsky (1863-1944) was a Russian photographer, chemist, and inventor, who made a significant contribution to the development of photography and cinematography and was a pioneer of color photography in Russia.
In 1909-1916, Prokudin-Gorsky traveled a large part of the Russian Empire, photographing ancient churches, monasteries, factories, towns, villages, and a variety of domestic scenes.

Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug or simply Yugra is located in the heart of Russia – in the north of Western Siberia. It is the main oil and natural gas region of the country and one of the largest oil producing regions in the world (about 60% of Russian oil).

The Museum-Reserve Peterhof is a monument of world architecture and palace-park art located on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland in the town of Peterhof in Petrodvorets district of St. Petersburg.
