The amazing beauty of Lake Akkem

Akkem is a lake situated in Altai mountains, at the foot of the northern slope of Mount Belukha, in the territory of Ust-Koksinsky district of the Altai Republic. Ak-kem means “white water” in the Altai language.
The lake, elongated from north to south, is fed by melt water of Akkem glacier. The length of the lake is 1,350 meters, the width – 610 m., the average depth – 7.8 m. Snowy winter on Lake Teletskoye

Lake Teletskoye is a lake located in the south of Western Siberia, in the Altai Republic, to the south-east of Gorno-Altaisk. It is the largest lake in the Altai Mountains.
Indigenous peoples call it Altyn Kol (Golden Lake). The length of the lake is 77.7 km, the width – 2-3 km, the depth – up to 325 meters.

The most impressive river valley in Russia

Chulyshman is a river in the Altai Republic flowing from the mountain lake Dzhulukul. There is a road running along the river.

Ukok is a plateau located in the south of Altai Republic, on the border of Kazakhstan, China, Mongolia and Russia.
Numerous rivers, lakes, and marshes make this area fantastically beautiful. There are a lot of ancient legends about Ukok, more than 150 Scythian burial mounds were found here.

Lake Teletskoye – the largest lake in the Altay Mountains

Lake Teletskoye is located in the south of Western Siberia (Altai Republic). It is the fifth deepest lake in Russia (maximum depth – 325 meters).
This lake is one of the most popular tourist destination in Altai Republic: hiking, water, bike, air and road trips. In addition, many tourists come to the lake for fishing. The photo was taken by Alexey Kachurin.

Multinskiye lakes are located on the northern slope of Katunsky ridge in the Altai Mountains, on the territory of Ust-Koksinsky district of the Altai Republic.
This cascade of lakes is situated in the upper reaches of the Multa River and its tributaries. It is a unique natural area, a lot of rare species of plants grow here. Also, it is a very beautiful place. See for yourself! The pictures were taken by Anton Petrus
