On the outskirts of Krasnoyarsk, you can find the longest stairway in Russia. It leads to the summit of the Torgashinsky Ridge. The stairway is 1.2 km long and consists of 1,683 steps.
The climb to the top of the ridge takes about 40 minutes, offering panoramic views of the city, the taiga, and the Krasnoyarsk Pillars. The Krasnoyarsk Stairway on Google Maps. Photos by: Slava Stepanov.
The Torgashinsky Ridge is considered one of the most popular tourist destinations in Krasnoyarsk. Previously, people climbed to its summit via a regular trail.
Opened on December 1, 2021, this stairway connects two of the city’s most famous natural landmarks, the Torgashinsky Ridge and the Krasnoyarsk Pillars, with a shared network of hiking trails.
The stairway is equipped with motivational signs for tourists indicating how many steps they’ve climbed and how many remain to reach the top. There are three rest areas along the route.
The elevation difference from the start to the end of the stairway is 240 meters. The railings are illuminated in the evening.
