Yesterday, the President of Russia Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree of creating new federal district of Russia – North Caucasian Federal District. The district was split from Southern Federal District and includes the republics of Chechnya, Dagestan, Ingushetia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Karachay-Cherkessia, North Ossetia and Stavropolsky krai.

The mansion of Russian hussar

According to the legend Russian hussar colonel Vladimir Khrapovitsky had a bet with his friends that he would build a castle comparable to Louvre (Paris, France) with the park better than the Park of Versailles.
The colonel was a successful merchant and had all the resources to win the bet. The castle was built by Moscow architect P.S.Boytsov.

Russian submarines abandoned base photos

The following Russian naval base was built during the Soviet times somewhere in Primorye krai (region) on the Russian Far East. After the collapse of Soviet Union the base was abandoned.

The Ice Battle of Kontinental Hockey League

KHL game between Avangard and Vityaz hockey teams got canceled after four minutes due countless brawls, including a couple of fights before the game began. The game was abandoned due to neither side having the requisite number of players to continue, as most of the playing staff had received penalties until the end of the game.
In all, 16 Vityaz players were handed a total of 306 minutes of penalties, and 17 Avangard players received a total of 321 minutes. And here is the video of this “epic” game.
