Kolomenskoye, a former royal residence, is a well-known art historical-architectural and natural-landscape museum-reserve. It is located south of the center of Moscow and covers an area of 390 hectares.

One of the sights of this place is the reconstruction of the Palace of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – a wooden palace originally built in the second half of the 17th century.

Major Martin Manhoff spent more than two years in the Soviet Union in the early 1950s. He worked as an assistant to the military attache in the U.S. Embassy, ​​located near Red Square.

Manhoff, being a gifted photographer, shot hundreds of scenes from everyday Soviet life – both in Moscow and in other regions of the USSR.

Construction of the hotel “Ukraina” from the roof of the U.S. Embassy on Novinsky Boulevard. On the left you can see the Church of the Nine Martyrs of Cyzicus (1954).

Church of the Intercession at Fili is an Orthodox church located in Filevsky Park district, in the western administrative district of Moscow (Novozavodskaya Street, 6).

Moscow covered by low clouds

This weather happens in Moscow only a few times a year. Warm cyclone comes after heavy frosts gradually displacing icy air from the city.

Central Air Force Museum in Monino

The Central Air Force Museum is a museum of the history of aviation technology located in the village of Monino in Shchyolkovsky district of the Moscow region, 23 km east of Moscow.

The museum, opened to visitors in 1960, has a rich exposition of helicopters and aircraft of civil and military purposes, as well as weapons, tools, uniforms, artwork. The exhibits are located in the open air, in two hangars and six exhibition halls. Photos by: Andrey Khachatryan.

Church of the Beheading of John the Baptist in Dyakovo is one of the two survived multi-pillar churches of the 16th century, an outstanding monument of Russian architecture.

The church is situated in the territory of Kolomenskoye Museum-Reserve in the Southern Administrative District of Moscow. In the 16th century, the royal residence was located in this area.
