Maykop (“the valley of apple trees” from the Adyghe language) is a city with a population of about 139 thousand people located in the south of European Russia, the capital of the Republic of Adygea.
The main urban development of Maykop was carried out in Soviet times and it was done quite systematically. The streets of the city for the most part are strictly perpendicular to each other, its entire center consists of identical city blocks. Photos by: Slava Stepanov.

Alpine Meadows of Lago-Naki Plateau

Lago-Naki is a famous plateau located at an altitude of about 2,000 meters in the Western Caucasus, in Maikop district of the Republic of Adygea.
It is a place of stunning natural beauty known for its flowering alpine meadows. Almost the entire territory of the plateau is included in the Caucasian Reserve. Photos by: Vladimir Mulder.

This little-known cave is located on the ridge Azish-Tau in the north-eastern part of the plateau Lago-Naki in the Republic of Adygeya, near the hotel named after this ridge and the ski lift.
The cave is relatively small, but has an unusually large concentration of speleothems commonly known as cave formations.

In the Caucasus, there are so many interesting places, and one of them is Lago-Naki Plateau located in the Western Caucasus, at an altitude of about 2,000 meters above sea level.
Almost the entire territory of the plateau, known for its alpine meadows, is part of the Maikop District of the Republic of Adygea.

The beauty of the mountainous Adygea

Adygea is a republic within the Russian Federation, a part of the Southern Federal District. The territory of the republic is entirely surrounded by another region of Russia – Krasnodar krai.
The mountainous part of Adygea is included in the UNESCO list of World Natural Heritage. There are plenty of waterfalls, caves, rocks for climbing, gorges, canyons, rivers, alpine meadows, pine and fir forests.
