Borodino battle reconstruction sceneries

Borodino battle or Moscow river battle was the largest battle of Patriotic war of 1812 between Russia and France. The battle took place September 7, 1812 near Borodino village about 125 km to the west of Moscow city. Borodino battle is supposed to be one of the bloodiest one-day battles in history with Russian casualties of about 45,000 and French – 30,000.

Poshekhonye is a small town with the population of about 6,500 (2010) located in Yaroslavl oblast of Russia. The town is situated 151 km to the northwest of Yaroslavl city. The settlement was first time mentioned in 1680 and from 1777 has the status of the town. Here are the photos of Poshekhonye town captured by Maxim Yashin in April 2009.

Ivangorod town fortress pictures

Ivangorod is a small town located in Leningrad region of Russia with the population of about 11,000 (2010). The town is standing on Narva river bank opposite to Estonian town of Narva.
The settlement was founded in 1492 as a fortress. The fortress of Ivangorod played an important role during numerous wars of 16th-17th centuries. The following photos of Ivangorod fortress were captured by Andrey Rumyantsev.
