Russian artist and illustrator Andrew Tarusov made a special Sports Calendar for 2014.
There are no Olympic symbols in the calendar which will become boring soon. Instead, it has some excellent pictures of drawn pin-up girls, and every month also has perky poem about different sports.

“Soyuz” Spacecraft with a Torch of “Sochi-2014” Olympics

November 6, manned spacecraft “Soyuz TMA-11M” will be launched to the International Space Station. Liftoff will be broadcast live on screens at the famous Times Square in New York, the US.
The spacecraft will be launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan.

A few hours are left until the opening ceremony of the 27th World Student University Games (Universiade) in Kazan. The event will start at 19:40 CET (Central European Time) on the largest sports facility of the city – football stadium “Kazan-Arena”.
More than 350 sets of medals in 27 sports will be awarded at the Universiade. The competitions will last until July 17. Athletes from 170 countries will take part in the Games.

Today in St. Petersburg organizers of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games 2014 in Sochi have presented the medals, which will be awarded to winners of competitions.
The main theme in the design of medals is a patch-work quilt that will be the main symbol of the Sochi Games. The quilt symbolizes the “diversity of cultural traditions of people living in Russia.”

The 2013 World Junior Hockey Championship started in Russia

2013 Ice Hockey U20 World Championship is the 37th World Junior Hockey Championship, which takes place in the city of Ufa, Russia from December 26, 2012 to January 5, 2013.
Competitions are held on two ice arenas: Ufa Arena (capacity 7,950) and Palace of Sports (capacity 4,043). Top ten strongest teams in the world participate in the championship.

“Anzhi” (also spelled “Anji”) is a Russian football club from Makhachkala (capital city of Dagestan Republic) playing in the Russian Football Championship. The name of the club is an ancient name of the city of Makhachkala. Also the word “Anzhi” means “pearl”. The official club colors are green, yellow and white.
