Brief History:
In 19th century the region became the main and the most well-known district of penal servitude. Transsibirskaya railway made Chita the main transport junction of Zabaikalie.
Chitinskaya region was a part of Far Eastern region. In 1920-1922 Chita was a capital of Far Eastern republic.
