Boguchanskaya hydropower plant is being constructed on the Angara River (about 12 km from Kodinsk town and 740 km from Krasnoyarsk city). The construction of the station began in 1980 and was frozen from 1994 to 2005 due to lack of funds.
In 2004, the readiness of hydroelectric plant facilities was 58%. The completion of Boguchanskaya hydropower plant is of great importance for the development of the Siberian economic region. More than half the electricity generated by hydropower station will be used at the aluminum plant.
149.5 thousand hectares, including 29.6 thousand hectares of farmland were flooded to create the water reservoir. The start of first complex of Boguchanskaya hydropower plant is expected in spring 2012. The station is scheduled to begin working at full capacity in 2013. The photos were taken by Stepanov Slava.
