Ancient kremlin of Velikiy Novgorod

A lot of monuments of ancient architecture were preserved in Velikiy Novgorod. The oldest of them is St. Sophia Cathedral, which construction started in 1045.
The cathedral is located inside the Kremlin – the historic center of the city (the present day walls were erected in the 15th century). The photos were captured by Petr Ushanov.

Kolomna is a city in the Moscow region of Russia, administrative center of the Kolomna district, a river port.
The city was mentioned in the Laurentian Chronicle in 1177 as an existing, but according to recent excavations the foundation of the city belongs to the years 1140-1160.

Rybinsk – the city of Russia’s Golden Ring

Rybinsk city is located in Yaroslavl oblast of Russia and has the population of about 207,000. Rybinsk received its coat of arms, present name and status of the city in 1777. The name can be translated as “The fish city”. Rybinsk is known for the preserved architectural monuments of the late 18th – early 20th century. Dubrovitsy is a small village located near Podolsk city of Moskovskaya oblast. The main attractions of the village are the mansion of Golytsins and the following remarkable Znamensky church constructed more than 300 year ago, in 1704.
