The accident happened yesterday (May 20) with the new bridge across the Volga river situated in Vologograd city. The bridge was opened in October 2009 and it is one of the longest and most complicated structures of such types in Russia. All the traffic was immediately stopped. According to the eyewitnesses accounts the amplitude of fluctuations was about 2 meters. There is no information if the bridge was damaged and if it is possible to reopen it.
