Abandoned churches and landscapes of Smolensk region
3 Comments · Posted by Sergei Rzhevsky in Architecture, Nature, Photos, Regions
There are about 400,000 various historical and cultural monuments in Smolensk oblast of Russia. The territories of the region also played an important role in Russian military history. Unfortunately a lot of the architectural monuments are abandoned and if nothing changes they will be lost forever in near future. Photos by Denis Frantsouzov.

Smolensk oblast; how lovely it is; those winding dirt-roads across a countryside, so mysterious to wonder, and wander where they lead; and water, and then all the abandoned churches; how heart-breakingly absolutely beautiful Russia really is, and thank you for sharing all these fine pictures. Well done. May you always be well is my wish.Sincerely mica
