Abandoned Russian rocket forces base photos

Today while Russia and USA are working on new treaty about reduction of strategic offensive systems we can offer you the sceneries of one of the Russian rocket forces base already abandoned during the previous years.
The remains of the base located on the territory of Kaluga oblast were captured by Denis Frantsouzov.

The original newly built church of classical Russian style

Russia is becoming known not only for its glorious past remains like churches and fortresses but for newly built masterpieces like the following one – the church constructed in 2000-2001 in Nadovrazhino village, Istrinsky district of Moskovskaya oblast.
It was built on the place where the church of the 18th century had been standing before being destroyed in the 1930th (the photos were captured by av_otus)

Kaliningrad oblast was the part of German province East Prussia before the World War II. The province was partitioned between the USSR and Poland after the World War II.

Abandoned settlement of scientists Dalniye Zelentsy photos

The following settlement of scientists was founded in 1935 as a biological station of zoological institute. In 1950s, the biological station was functioning as scientific organization and in 1958 it was reorganized into Murmansk Sea Biological Institute. In 1989, the institute was moved to Murmansk city.
Today the station is almost abandoned and the population of the settlement is about 20 people. The future of the settlement is probably connected with the building of recreation center for divers. The following photos of the settlement were captured by russos (the photos are clickable).

A trip to Naryan-Mar by winter road

Naryan-Mar city is the capital of Nenets Autonomous Okrug located behind the Arctic Circle (permafrost zone, polar night during December and January).
The city is the main base of exploring Timano-Pechorskaya gas and oil province. The following photos were captured by Russian photo blogger Frederick Taer during his journey to Naryan-Mar.

The mansion of Russian hussar

According to the legend Russian hussar colonel Vladimir Khrapovitsky had a bet with his friends that he would build a castle comparable to Louvre (Paris, France) with the park better than the Park of Versailles.
The colonel was a successful merchant and had all the resources to win the bet. The castle was built by Moscow architect P.S.Boytsov.
