The fortress of ancient Russian town Izborsk

Today Izborsk (also known as Old Izborsk) is a village located in Pechorsky district of Pskovskaya oblast. But the settlement of Izborsk is also one of the most ancient Russian towns mentioned together with Smolensk and Polotsk towns. Izborsk is located about 30 km to the west of Pskov city. Main attraction of the place is a fortress constructed in XIV century. The photos were captured by John Sinterson (all the pictures are clickable).
