People living in the South Urals chose five of the best projects of the monument to the meteorite “Chelyabinsk”.

After the fall of the now world-famous meteorite in Chelyabinsk, the Governor Mikhail Yurevich announced a competition for the perpetuation of this unique natural phenomenon.

In total, more than 800 ideas were received. Among them there were some quite unexpected, for example, the construction of a chapel or a hotel.

A number of creative Ural authors dedicated whole poems to the meteor, and one participant suggested creating large-scale plantations of forests, repeating ground track of the meteorite.

By the way, the youngest participant of the competition was only five years old and the oldest - 89!

The jury chose 10 projects for the voting stage. And here are the Top 5 projects.

Top 5 of monuments to Chelyabinsk meteorite

The Extreme Park.

First place went to the project of the Extreme Park. In the center of the park an art object resembling a flying meteorite will be standing and around the site there will be places for such sports activities as skating, skateboarding, mountain biking.

The fountain in the form of falling meteorite

The mosaics will be dedicated to the meteor flying through the sky over the Chelyabinsk region on February 15, 2013.

Commemorative coins

The author proposes a series of coins minted from precious metals in denominations from 1 to 10 rubles with the image of Chelyabinsk meteorite.

The winner of Chelyabinsk meteorite competition

Professional architects, sculptors and designers finalized the projects, and, on June 17, the decisive voting began, everyone was able to take part in it.

The project “The Extreme Park” won the vote, the second place went to the commemorative coins project, and the third - to the monument in the form of a window frame with broken glass.

The winner received an award - 100 thousand rubles (about 3500 USD). Second and third place were also awarded - 50 and 30 thousand rubles, respectively.

Parkour Park will be located in the central part of Chelyabinsk, near the monument to Kurchatov. Its size will be 25x25 meters. In the center, a monument to the meteorite will be placed. The park will have horizontal bars, walls, various arrangements for jumping.
