One year of life of Krasnoyarsk city

Krasnoyarsk is the largest cultural, economic, industrial and educational center of Central and Eastern Siberia, the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai (the second largest region of Russia).

This city, founded in 1628, is the largest of the old cities of Siberia. Krasnoyarsk is the easternmost city in the country with a population of over 1 million people. Let’s look at the city in motion, at different times of the day and year.

Khabarovsk is the administrative center of the Far Eastern Federal District and Khabarovsk region of Russia. The city is a major economic, transport and logistics, political, and cultural center of the Russian Far East.

The city is standing on the right bank of the Amur River near the border with China. Distance to Moscow by air is about 6100 km, by rail – 8533 km.

Khabarovsk was founded in 1858 and named after the Russian explorer of the 17th century Yerofei Khabarov. Khabarovsk Bridge, as well as rock and monument to Count Muravyov-Amursky are depicted on the 5000 rubles banknote – at the moment it’s the biggest banknote in Russia.

Nice video of Ekaterinburg, the center of the Urals, shot this November when the city was covered by first snow. Ekaterinburg is located in the region with a moderate continental type of climate with special sharp changeable weather and well expressed seasons.

Today the city is a strategically important center of Russia which provides connection between European and Asian parts of the country.

Sochi is a resort city in Russia located on the Black Sea coast of Krasnodar region. Sochi is the largest resort city in the country. Adler district of the city (Adler and Krasnaya Polyana, located 39 km from the coast of the Black Sea) will host the Winter Olympic Games 2014.

Krasnaya Polyana ski resort was opened in 2007. It will hold open air winter sports (cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, bobsled, etc.), while Sochi will host indoor sports (hockey, figure skating, etc.). Also in 2014, it is planned to hold first Grand Prix Formula 1 in Russia here.

Perm – the region of contrasts

Perm is a city in the east of the European part of Russia, in the foothills of the Urals, the administrative center of Perm Krai. The city is a major industrial, scientific, cultural, and logistic center of the Urals.

Perm was founded in 1723. In 1876, first in the Urals and Siberia railroad was built through the city. In 1979, the city’s population exceeded 1 million people.

In 2009, the authorities of the region started an ambitious project – “Perm – Cultural Capital.” The project significantly increased the number of cultural events held in the city, a lot of various art objects appeared in the streets.

Time-lapse portrait of Ekaterinburg

Ekaterinburg (also spelled Yekaterinburg) with the population of about 1.4 million is the fourth largest city in Russia. The city is located 1667 km to the east of Moscow and is one the Russian cities which will host several matches of FIFA World Cup 2018.

As Ekaterinburg city is the main administrative, cultural, scientific, and educational center of the whole Ural region (Ural Federal District), it is also known as “the capital of Ural”. Lately the city is becoming more and more attractive to tourists. There is large international airport “Koltsovo” located nearby.

Streets and sights of Barnaul city

Barnaul, founded in 1730, is the capital of Altai krai. The city is located in the south of Western Siberia. As of 2012 the city’s population is about 622 thousand people, it is the 20th largest city in Russia.

There are over 20 monuments of architecture and history of the 18th and the first half of 19th centuries built in the style of classicism in the city. One of the sights of the city is “BARNAUL” sign that can be found in Nagorny Park resembling the sign “HOLLYWOOD” on Hollywood hills.

Nice time-lapse promo video of Kazan

Kazan is the capital of Tatarstan Republic and the center of Tatar people culture in Russia. From Tatar people language the word “qazan” means boiler or cauldron.

Kazan Kremlin is among UNESCO world heritage and a 1000 year history of Kazan makes it one of the Russian cities most often visited by tourists. Next year Kazan will host the 27th World Summer Universiade and this video is a nice promotion of the city.

Saint Petersburg is located in northern Europe, in the north-west of the Russian Federation, on the shore of Finnish Gulf and on Neva River. St. Petersburg is the only city in the world with the population over 1,000,000 which is located so far in the north.

Saint Petersburg is the largest city located in Europe which is not a capital. Last week the population of the city exceeded 5 million people. Our congratulations and to celebrate this event here is a great time-lapse video of the city.

Moscow is the largest city in Russia and Europe as well as one of the largest cities in the world. The city is one of the largest cultural and tourist centers of Europe and the world.

There are a lot of places of interest in Moscow – various historical, cultural and architectural sites: the Kremlin, Bolshoi Theater, A.S.Pushkin Fine Arts Museum, Tretyakov Gallery, Novodevichy monastery, Kolomenskoye estate, Shuhovskaya and Ostankino towers, etc.
