Kolomna is a city in the Moscow region of Russia, administrative center of the Kolomna district, a river port.

The city was mentioned in the Laurentian Chronicle in 1177 as an existing, but according to recent excavations the foundation of the city belongs to the years 1140-1160.

Dubrovitsy is a small village located near Podolsk city of Moskovskaya oblast. The main attractions of the village are the mansion of Golytsins and the following remarkable Znamensky church constructed more than 300 year ago, in 1704. Borodino battle reconstruction sceneries

Borodino battle or Moscow river battle was the largest battle of Patriotic war of 1812 between Russia and France. The battle took place September 7, 1812 near Borodino village about 125 km to the west of Moscow city. Borodino battle is supposed to be one of the bloodiest one-day battles in history with Russian casualties of about 45,000 and French – 30,000.

The following nice photos were captured during the recent reconstruction of the great battle by Frederick Taer (all the photos are clickable). The second part of the photos – Borodino battlefield sceneries.

Mozhaisk is a city located in Moskovskaya oblast, about 110 km to the west of Moscow city.

The following cathedral was built in 1779-1820 on the territory of Mozhaisk city kremlin. The kremlin itself was lost. The cathedral is one of the main attractions of present day Mozhaisk. The photos were captured by vezde-ezdim.

Kubinka armored forces museum photos

The museum of armored forces in Kubinka (Moskovskaya oblast, about 63 km to the west of Moscow city) is one of the largest in Russia and has the unique collection of war machines. The photos were captured by k_kronos.
