“BelAZ 75600″ – the biggest truck in the former USSR

Bachatskiy coal open-cast mine, located in Belovo city (Kemerovo oblast) is one of the largest mines of the Kuzbass (total area is about 20 square kilometers, depth – 300 meters). Annual production amounts to more than 8 million 700 thousand tons.
The mine produces fuel for energy and metallurgical industries of Russia and other countries around the world.

Chirkeyskaya hydropower plant – the highest arch dam in Russia

Chirkeyskaya hydropower plant is located on the river Sulak in Dagestan Republic. It is the largest hydropower plant in the North Caucasus and the highest arch dam in Russia. It is built in a narrow Chirkeyskiy gorge.
The capacity of the station is 1000 MW; average annual output 2.47 billion kilowatt hours. Photos by Stepanov Slava.

Boguchanskaya hydropower plant is being constructed on the Angara River (about 12 km from Kodinsk town and 740 km from Krasnoyarsk city). The construction of the station began in 1980 and was frozen from 1994 to 2005 due to lack of funds.

According to the ranking of British company Brande Finance Sberbank (Russia’s largest bank) is the most expensive Russian brand in 2011 with the value of about 12 billion dollars taking 65th rank in the top 500 brands of the world (58th rank in 2010).

Kursk Magnetic Anomaly (Kursk oblast) is the most massive in the world iron ore basin. There are deposits of about 200-210 billion tons, accounting for about 50% of iron ore reserves on the planet. Sayano-Shushenskaya Dam rebuilding photos

Sayano-Shushenskaya hydroelectric power station is located in Khakassia Republic on the Yenisei river. The plant is the largest in Russia and #6 largest in the world. Almost a year ago (August 17, 2009) an accident happened at the station that caused flooding of the engine and turbine rooms, 74 people died. Here are the photos of the station captured this month (June 2010) by Misha Maklakov showing the process of station rebuilding and reconstruction. All the photos are clickable.
