Abandoned airbase of heavy bombers in Primorye

Vozdvizhenka is an airbase located in Primorsky krai. A heavy bomber aviation regiment was deployed at the airbase armed with supersonic long-range strategic bombers Tupolev Tu-22M3.

In 2010, the regiment was disbanded, some aircraft were transferred to other airbases. The airframes of others are waiting to be cut for metal. The airfield is abandoned. Photos by KFSS.ru.

Fantastic series of photos! I’m a big fan of forgotten places, especially military ones, and it’s a bonus when there’s still redundant aircraft littering abandoned airfields.

Amazing photos. There is no country I am more exited about visiting than Russia. I hope the looters don’t destroy too much of the abandoned military hardware before I visit.
