Kolomenskoye, a former royal residence, is a well-known art historical-architectural and natural-landscape museum-reserve. It is located south of the center of Moscow and covers an area of 390 hectares.

One of the sights of this place is the reconstruction of the Palace of Tsar Alexey Mikhailovich – a wooden palace originally built in the second half of the 17th century.

Stone Mushrooms of Akkurum

The tract of Akkurum (Ak-Korum) is located on the right bank of the Chulyshman River, about 15 km from its confluence with Lake Teletskoye, in the Ulagan district of the Altai Republic.

Akkurum, meaning “white rockslide”, is a very picturesque place which main attraction is the group of so-called “stone mushrooms” – stone pillars formed as a result of wind and water erosion and reaching a height of 7 meters. Akkurum on Google Maps. Photos by: Andrei Kireev.

Mouse Museum in Myshkin

Myshkin is a small town with a population of only about 5,700 people located on the left, high bank of the Volga River (Rybinsk Reservoir), in the Myshkin district of the Yaroslavl region.

Since the mid-1990s, Myshkin has become a major tourist center. In the town, a complex of museums (Myshkin People’s Museum) is formed, which includes a museum of mouse – the symbol of the town. Photos by: zhzhitel.

Boat trip along the canals of St. Petersburg

St. Petersburg, the second largest city in Russia, is located in the north-west of the country, on the coast of the Gulf of Finland and at the mouth of the Neva River. It was named after St. Peter, the patron saint of Peter the Great, the founder of the city.

Abandoned Nuclear Power Plant in Kursk

The construction of the 5th unit of the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant began in 1986. It was planned that the power unit would be put into operation in 1992.

However, in 1989, the construction was frozen because the 5th power unit was designed based on the use of the RBMK reactor (the type of reactor installed at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant).

Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Engineers and Signal Corps located in St. Petersburg is one of the largest military museums in Russia. In total, the collection includes over 850 thousand exhibits.

The exposition was started by Peter I, who founded Zeughaus – a place for storing historical, unique and experimental artillery pieces. Today, the exposition covers the time from the 15th century to the present day. Photos by: deletant.
