Znamenskaya Church in Veshalovka village

Veshalovka, a small village located in Lipetsk region, is known for its unique church – the Church of the Sign of Our Lady (Znamenskaya Сhurch), built in 1794.

It was constructed in the pseudo-Gothic style, which is not typical for this part of Russia. Today, the church is an architectural monument of national importance.

Lake Teletskoye is located in the south of Western Siberia (Altai Republic). It is the fifth deepest lake in Russia (maximum depth – 325 meters).

This lake is one of the most popular tourist destination in Altai Republic: hiking, water, bike, air and road trips. In addition, many tourists come to the lake for fishing. The photo was taken by Alexey Kachurin.

One-year trip to the ISS has just begun

Just minutes ago, “Soyuz TMA-16M” spacecraft has been launched from Baikonur cosmodrome to the International Space Station.

The crew includes Russian cosmonauts Gennady Padalka and Mikhail Kornienko and the U.S. astronaut Scott Kelly. The expedition of Kornienko and Kelly will last one year.

Ice fields of Lake Baikal

Lake Baikal, located in Irkutsk region and Buryatia Republic, is known not only because it is the deepest lake in the world and the largest natural reservoir of fresh water, but also for its fantastically beautiful ice fields formed in winter time. The photos were taken by Anton Petrus.

Karachay-Cherkessia Republic is a subject of the Russian Federation (population about 470 thousand people), a part of the North Caucasian Federal District.

The region is located in the foothills of the north-western Caucasus. About 80% of Karachay-Cherkessia Republic territory is situated in mountainous terrain providing favourable conditions for development of tourism, mountaineering and resort activities. The photos were taken by Timur Agirov.

Early spring in the ancient town of Pskov

Pskov, located in the northwest of Russia, is one of the oldest cities in the country. For the first time it was mentioned in chronicles in 903.

Prior to the beginning of the 18th century, Pskov was one of the largest cities of Russia and Europe, major defense and trade center. Currently, the city is an important tourist destination. The photos were taken by Eduard Gordeev.

Saying goodbye to winter, let’s visit Belogorskiy monastery (1902-1917) – one of the main attractions of Perm region. It is located about 120 kilometers to the south of Perm, the capital city of the region.

One year of life of Krasnoyarsk city

Krasnoyarsk is the largest cultural, economic, industrial and educational center of Central and Eastern Siberia, the administrative center of Krasnoyarsk Krai (the second largest region of Russia).

This city, founded in 1628, is the largest of the old cities of Siberia. Krasnoyarsk is the easternmost city in the country with a population of over 1 million people. Let’s look at the city in motion, at different times of the day and year.

About two years ago, we published a post with beautiful photos of an amazing natural phenomenon – snow caves formed near Mutnovsky volcano in Kamchatka.
