September 8, residents and guests of Vladivostok could see beautiful light show prepared for the APEC summit. It was the largest light show in Russia this year.
A multimedia show is a light-laser-fireworks performance on the water, fully synchronized with the music. Duration of the show was a little more than 19 minutes. The cost of the fireworks and laser show on the contract is USD 2.5 million. Photos by Petr Ushanov

Saint Petersburg is located in northern Europe, in the north-west of the Russian Federation, on the shore of Finnish Gulf and on Neva River. St. Petersburg is the only city in the world with the population over 1,000,000 which is located so far in the north.
Saint Petersburg is the largest city located in Europe which is not a capital. Last week the population of the city exceeded 5 million people. Our congratulations and to celebrate this event here is a great time-lapse video of the city.
The history of Nizhny Tagil dates back to 1722 when the ironworks was built by Demidov dynasty. At the time Nizhny Tagil plant was one of the biggest, not only in Russia but also in Europe.

August 1, 2012 the bridge to the Russian (Russky) Island was opened to private traffic. It is a cable-stayed bridge in Vladivostok, connecting Nazimov Peninsula with Novosilsky Cape on the Russian Island.
The construction of the bridge began September 3, 2008 as part of the city’s preparations for the APEC summit in 2012. The total cost of the project including the access road to the bridge is about $ 2 billion.

In the previous post, we can see how the Russian and French troops looked 200 years ago during the battle of Borodino, but now back to the present. Military exercises of armored vehicles were held in Primorye this August. The main task of the exercises was surmounting water obstacles.
The exercises involved such armored vehicles as BMP-1, MTLB, BTR-80 and tanks T-80. Also as part of the exercises evacuation of vehicles stalled afloat was demonstrated; loading armored vehicles on the ferry was also shown. Photos by Smit Smitty
September 2, the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Borodino was held in Moskovskaya oblast. Military-historical reenactment of the battle scenes took place on the field to the west of the village of Borodino. The battle involved cavalry, infantry and artillery.
The entire 2012 Russia marks the 200th anniversary of the Patriotic War 1812, a special place is given to the largest battle of the war happened near Borodino village. In France, the battle is called the battle of the Moscow River. Photos by Alexander Lipilin
